JAMES FERGUSON
GRAPHIC DESIGNER
The ability to think visually and creatively, along with the innate skill of understanding the vision a client has for a project, provides the basis for the success of my commercial design work.
My Adobe Creative Cloud and illustration skills provide a platform to consistently deliver art and design to the best standards and within brief.
Understanding people's visual language is essential. My first step is always to understand the angle and perspective of the client in order to communicate this visually.
As a graphic designer, it's my job to work with the team at Ready Marketing throughout the design stages of a job, from concept to final design. That process is one that begins with me sketching out mock-up designs and layouts for a range of content including print advertisements, logos, business cards, posters and all things visual in the marketing space.
I’m from Blayney and have a Graduate Diploma in Business Management and an Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development from the Academy of Interactive Entertainment in Canberra. I also hold a Diploma of Music from TAFE – Western Institute, Orange.
My background is video game development and I spent seven years in Canberra working as a video game developer and a freelance illustrator/designer.
I then went on to work at Biotext, a science publication and design company, before heading home for a tree change and a position as a designer for a construction engineering company in Bathurst.
I’m lucky enough to combine my personal passion with my career. I live and breathe art - making it, learning about it, going to see it. Music is also a huge passion in my life and it's a major factor in my creative process.
When I’m not inside creating, I’m outside in the garden doing the same. Gardening is a Ferguson family tradition that fits well with the clan motto of “sweeter after difficulties”. Simple truth!
